To put on shoes correctly, you need to know how to measure correctly your feet. There are various methods for quickly and easily determining your shoe size. Here are three examples:

The professional pedometer

This professional tool is used to measure foot length. Fun and perfectly suited to both children’s and adults’ feet, it is very easy and quick to use, and ideal for measuring your foot size or checking your children’s foot size during the season.

How does it work?

Place the pedimeter on the floor.
Stand up, place your right heel on the rounded mark and the rest of your foot flat on the floor (toes spread out). Stand up straight and look ahead.
Adjust the white slider on the end of the foot to place it on the scale.
Read your shoe size. If the foot gauge shows two values, take the larger one. That’s it, now you know your shoe size!

Print the pedometer

Print out the pedometer and place it on the floor on a flat surface.
Stand up and place your foot flat (toes spread) on the sheet, making sure it is positioned at the back of the heel area.
Read the size indicated using the graduations.

Since one foot may be larger than the other, measure both feet and use the larger size. For example, if your foot size is between 38 and 39, round up to the next size. In this case, your size is 39.

You can also use a blank sheet of paper to measure your foot.

How does it work?

Place your foot flat on a white sheet of paper and trace the outline of your foot with a pen.
Then repeat the operation with the other foot.
Measure the maximum length using a ruler or tape measure.

To convert this measurement into a true French size, we use the French system or Paris point, which stipulates that the measurement in cm is equal to 2/3 of the shoe size. For example, if your foot measures 25.9 cm, then the formula that applies is 26 cm / 0.666 = 39; your French shoe size is therefore 39.

For children’s feet, remember to leave a margin of about 1.2 cm at the front of the foot. This is the margin for foot growth (a child’s foot grows on average 3 mm every 30 days).
